Rommerskirchen (D) and Limbourg (B) - a friendly relationship

Strengthening the idea of peaceful coexistence in Europe!

What happened?

On May 24, 2019, the municipality of Rommerskirchen invited representatives of the municipality of Limbourg to a first cross-border meeting. Mayor Martin Mertens received the Mayor of Limbourg Valérie Dejardin and other representatives of the municipality of Limbourg. Dr. Jörg Schmitz-Gielsdorf, Ambassadeur du Pays de Rode, would like to take the newly established friendly relations further into the Belgian, Dutch and German border region of the Pays de Rode. Mayor Mertens thus seized the opportunity to establish a relationship between the schools in Rommerskirchen and the schools in Limbourg. The pupils should learn to think across borders. They can thus gain valuable experience in the neighboring cultures of the German and Belgian border regions. As a convinced European, Mayor Mertens pointed out the great importance of cross-border relationships that help to get to know the neighbors.

Now the newly established contact needs to be filled with activities by both municipalities. Ambassadeur Doctor Jörg Schmitz-Gielsdorf offered to open the Ambassade for joint cultural events.
