WCIDC

A common project of the FSUN and the Embassy: “To cherish humanity over nationhood. I'm a citizen of the world.”

International encounters are fruitful! A new friendly relationship has been established between the Foundation for the Support of the United Nations - FSUN - and the Ambassade du Pays de Rode. The theme of cross-border friendship, which the Ambassade has represented for many years in the Euregio Meuse-Rhine, has taken on a new dimension. During the Ambassade's hosting of a EURIADE and FSUN project [see: FSUN MEETS EURIADE HOSTED BY AMBASSADE DU PAYS DE RODE À LIMBOURG, 27.1.2024], Janet Salazar, CEO of FSUN, got to know the cultural orientation of the Ambassade better. Inspired by Janet Salazar, who sees herself as a Citizen of the World, the Ambassadeur developed the idea of a World Citizen ID Card (WCIDC), with which every person in the world can join the idea of global citizenship, which cherishs the idea of humanity over nationhood. Janet Salazar, who immediately took up this idea, would like to create such a World Citizen Identity Card together with the Ambassade. The first steps have already been taken. The project design is ready and an initial model and concept of a WCIDC was presented to interested parties during a personal visit to New York by Dr. Jörg Schmitz-Gielsdorf, Ambassadeur du Pays de Rode, and Professor Bernd Lorscheider, Head of International Networking of the Embassy. On June 29 of this year, the WCIDC will be presented to interested euregional guests as part of another visit by the FSUN to the embassy.
