What happened?

First of all, Mélanie Defaaz, Head of Tourism and Heritage Protection, welcomed the many guests at the official reception for all participants at the Ambassade du Pays de Rode. The municipality invited guests to enjoy a glass of friendship in the glorious evening sunshine. The head of department, Mélanie Defaaz, wished the "Romantic Night in Limbourg" event every success. The well-prepared program started at 7 p.m. at the various locations indicated in the event schedule. Around 500 out-of-town guests passed through the town gates. Together with the local Limbourgoises, they attended the numerous events, initially in the evening light. Later, in the pleasant summer night, the guests were treated to a variety of singing performances by choirs, musical performances by orchestras and soloists, storytellers, carriage rides, picture exhibitions and dancing together.

The Hotel Ad Astra and the Brasserie St. Georges served tasty drinks from an original bar in a Deux Chevaux, served in a friendly manner by the friendly restaurateur Pierre and his partner. The Ambassade du Pays de Rode provided the crystal salon, where the a capella choir "A Piacere" from Thimister-Clermont and the ensemble Aurore Geraerts (harp) and Ghislaine Hamoir (conteuse) took turns to perform. In the garden of the Ambassade, the choir "L' Arche de Noah" from Goé presented its program to the numerous guests. Other gardens revealed their hidden enchanting beauty to the wandering guests in the romantic evening light. In the garden of the future gîte "Le Lys bleu", the "Royales Fanfares réunies Dolhain-Limbourg" under the direction of Françis Rademaecker played the gold from the evening sky. In the enchanted garden "Le Jardin du presbytère", guests enjoyed the rare variety of flowers. In the garden of the Swallow House, not only the swallows chirped under the three large lime trees. The orchestra "L'Amicale des Accordéonistes" also kept the guests enthralled until late into the night. The "Amis du Cheval" carriage invited its enthusiasts to take a carriage ride out through the city gate into the evening panorama. In the attractive vaulted cellar of the Hotel Ad Astra, the "D-clameurs" performed and told romantic love stories.
Local guides showed unique sights in the romantic night. In the old town hall L'Arvo, visitors interested in romantic love marveled at wedding photos from the past and present. As a preview of the reopening of the Église St. Georges, the astonished visitors were able to admire candle pictures shaped like hearts on the floor of the nave, which bathed the interior of the venerable Église St. Georges in a lively light. Under the historic lime tree at the end of the village, which offers a view of the Pays de Herve from its hill, visitors who wanted to dance were offered the opportunity to enjoy a romantic round dance. The Lion's Club "Limbourg en Duché" served exclusive champagne in the rose-scented courtyard of the Gîte "Le Lys bleu", while saxophonist Charly Janke played his saxophone to match the champagne bubbles. The performers, dressed in black and red in keeping with the romantic theme, guided the guests through the evening. Together with them, they sank into a light trance of happiness until they awoke to the final chord of a furious firework display that lit up the sky, surprised and unspeakably delighted by the abundance of the firecracker symphony. Now there was nothing more to add!
Limbourg awoke in the middle of a romantic night!
Hearts were reborn, fidelity sworn forever!
Romance is the light of the world that gives us the charm of love!
An unspeakable success for all organizers! But even more thanks to the Commune de Limbourg, led by Mélanie Defaaz and Isabelle Erkens, who have been preparing the whole event for months, logistically and socially communicating with the inhabitants of Limbourg, the Ville historique!!!
